It was for you.

There is a question you carry.

You never say it out loud. You don't have to.

It comes at 3 a.m., in the quiet after the noise. Is this all there is?

I have a question Close

Isn't that just loneliness?

Loneliness has a cure. You find people, and it eases.

This doesn't ease. You can be surrounded, loved, doing well — and still feel the draft coming in from somewhere.

That points to a different kind of absence. One that other people were never built to fill.

You are not an accident of chemistry.

Your hunger for meaning. The ache a piece of music opens in you. Your certainty that cruelty is wrong — not merely unpopular.

None of that came from nothing. You were made, and you were meant.

I have a question Close

Couldn't it all just be chance?

Chance can explain a pattern. It has never explained a person.

The universe runs on constants set so precisely that moving one a fraction leaves no stars, no carbon, no you. Call that luck if you like — but luck that specific has another name.

And chance cannot make cruelty wrong. It can only make it common. You already know the difference between those two things.

Look at what you are being asked to accept: that nothing produced everything, that chaos produced order, and that matter with no intention produced someone able to ask why. It takes far more faith to believe that than to believe Jesus is the savior of the world.

And still, something is broken.

Not around you. In you.

You already knew that. It is why you hide parts of yourself from the people who love you most.

But your iniquities have separated you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.
Isaiah 59:2

I'm not a bad person, though.

Then answer without defending yourself. How many times have you lied? How many times have you sworn? How many times have you spoken badly about someone who was not in the room?

You are not counting. Nobody counts. But nothing on that list erased itself.

And God does not measure the size of the sin. There is no quota, no acceptable limit, no running balance where the good cancels the bad. One crooked thing is already enough for you not to deserve salvation.

Which is exactly the point. Nobody deserves it. That is why it cannot be earned, and has to be given.

So you try harder.

Be better. Be kinder. Read more, give more, meditate, discipline, begin again on Monday.

And the distance does not close. You cannot climb out of a hole by standing in it.

I have a question Close

So religion is useless?

Religion is the instinct to reach up. It is a true instinct, pointed the wrong way.

Every system built on human effort has the same architecture: do enough, and you will be accepted. The ladder is always one rung short, and you are always the one carrying it.

What comes next is the opposite shape. Not you reaching up. Someone coming down.

So He came down.

God, with lungs. With a mother. With a carpenter's hands — hands that could be held, and could be pierced.

He did not shout instructions from the rim of the hole. He climbed in.

But God shows his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8
I have a question Close

Why did it have to be a death?

Because a real debt cannot be waved away, only paid. Forgiveness that costs the forgiver nothing is not mercy — it is indifference.

Justice says the fracture has a price. Love says I will pay it. At the cross those two stopped arguing.

He did not die instead of loving you. Dying is how far the love went.

They buried Him.

The tomb was sealed, the guard was posted, the story was over.

Three days later the stone was moved and the grave was empty.

Not a symbol. Not a feeling. A morning, a garden, and a man who had been dead.

I have a question Close

Nobody comes back from the dead.

Agreed. That is exactly why it matters.

Something turned terrified men who had run away into men who would not stop talking under threat of execution. People die for what they believe. They do not die for what they know they invented.

And the tomb had an address, in a city full of people who wanted the movement dead. Ending it took one body. No one ever produced one.

So nothing is left to earn.

He is not waiting for you to clean yourself up first. He is not asking you to become the kind of person who deserves this.

He is asking you to trust Him. That is the whole door.

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9
I have a question Close

What does trusting Him actually change?

It changes who is carrying you. Not your effort — your standing.

You stop auditioning. The verdict comes first and the living follows from it. That order is the entire difference between religion and rescue.

You will not become perfect on Tuesday. You will become held. The rest takes a lifetime, and you are not doing it alone.

You can begin right here.

Out loud or under your breath — He is not grading the words.

Jesus, I believe You are who You said You are. I cannot fix myself. I am trusting You. Take my life.

That is a beginning, not a finish. Find people who follow Him, open the Bible and read about Him. If you don’t know where to start, write to us.
